Job Description:
This position is located at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego,
California. Physician (Dermatology) A recruitment or relocation

located on San Diego Bay. Balboa Park encompasses several mesas and
canyons to the northeast, surrounded by older, dense urban
communities including Hillcrest and North Park. To the east and
southeast lie City Heights, the College Area, and Southeast San
Diego. To the north lies Mission Valley and Interstate 8. The
communities north of the valley and freeway, and south of Marine
Corps Air Station Mirmar, include Clairemont, Kearny Mesa,
Tierrasanta, and Navajo. Stretching north from Miramar are the
northern suburbs of Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, Rancho Penasquitos,
and Ranch Bernado. The far northeast portion of the city
encompasses Lake Hodges and the San Pasqual Valley, which holds an
agricultural preserve. Carmel Valley and Del Mar Heights occupy the
northwest corner of the city. To their south are Torrey Pines State
Reserve and the business center of the Golden Triangle. Further
south are the beach and coastal communities of La Jolla, Pacific
Beach, Mission Beach, and Ocean Beach. Pont Loma occupies the
peninsula across San Dego Bay from downtown. The communities of
South San Diego (an Enclave), such as San Ysidro and Otay Mesa, are
located next to the Mexico-United States border and are physically
separated from the rest of the city by the cities of National City
and Chula Vista. A narrow strip of land at the bottom of San Diego
Bay connects these southern neighborhoods with the rest of the
city. San Diego has one of the top-ten best climates in the United
States and has one of the two best summer climates in the country
as scored by The Weather Channel. San Diego area has been variously
categorized as having either a semi-arid climate or a Mediterranean
climate. San Diego's climate is characterized by warm, dry summers
and mild winters, with most of the annual precipitation falling
between December and March. The city has a mild climate year-round,
with an average of 201 days above 70 °F and low rainfall (9–13
inches annually). Responsibilities Duties - Provide comprehensive
dermatologic evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for active-duty
service members, retirees, and dependents in a high-volume
outpatient clinic. - Evaluate and manages acute dermatologic
emergencies such as severe drug reactions, blistering disorders,
vasculitis, and complex infections. - Observe resident clinical
encounters, procedures, and inpatient consultations - Perform
dermatologic procedures including biopsies (shave, punch,
excisional), cryotherapy, electrodessication and curettage,
intralesional injections, phototherapy oversight, and minor
surgical excisions. - Provide dermatology consultation services to
inpatient units, emergency departments, and operational units.
Qualifications Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order
to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements
described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience,
including volunteer work done through National Service programs
(e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g.,
professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community;
student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying
experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must
clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on
education, your transcripts will be required as part of your

document. Basic Requirement for Physician (Dermatology): Degree:
Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent
from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have
been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American
Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges;
Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic
College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or
an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or
equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided
education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in
the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in
the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the
Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth
pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical
education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign
country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing
Examination. Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active,
full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from
a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico,
or a territory of the United States. Graduate Training: Subsequent
to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised
experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a
one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a
hospital or an institution accredited for such training. In
addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for
this position you must also meet the qualification requirements
listed below: Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully
completed the required accredited residency training in the
specialty of the position to be filled (Dermatology) and equivalent
experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may
not be substituted for residency training that is required for the
specialty identified. If you are selected for a Physician position:
A salary quote will not be provided to you at the time of the
initial job offer. The salary determination process begins after
the initial job offer is accepted. This consists of the Activity
Compensation Panel adding base pay and market pay to determine your
starting salary and this will be provided to you once approved.
Salary for physician positions is based on a tier scale, determined
by the position specialty, grade, and location.
