Compensation: $80.00 - $100.00/hr This is a PRN position. At

CoreCivic is currently seeking Pharmacist who have a passion for
providing the highest quality care in an institutional setting. The
Pharmacist provides professional medical direction, oversight and
direct patient care in a correctional facility The successful
applicant should be able to perform ALL of the following functions
at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job
performance requirements. The Pharmacist is responsible for
dispensing prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals
for patient care and for providing clinical pharmacy services as
directed by the PEO Clinical Director. - Reviews prescriptions
issued by Physician or other authorized prescriber to verify
accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed. - Compounds
medications, using standard formulas and processes, such as
weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. - Directs pharmacy
Technicians engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling
pharmaceuticals. - Maintains established procedures concerning
quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal
of hazardous waste drugs. - Identifies financial responsibility
(inmate/resident, corporate, insurance company, etc.) for all
incurred expenses. - Implements and maintains OTC medication
distribution system utilizing both commissary and medical unit
locations. - Completes logs of pharmaceutical billings and assists
the business office by reviewing all pharmaceutical billings at
least monthly. - Evaluates and recommends methods of improving
operational efficiency and cost effectiveness of pharmacy services.
- Maintains a good working relationship with facility staff,
medical staff, contract providers, and outside provider agencies. -
Utilizes established corporate, facility, and correctional policies
and procedures in making decisions, but use sound independent
judgment in meeting the responsibilities and performing the duties
of the position. - Assists in the formulation of facility policy
for the pharmacy. Interprets, enforces, and adheres to policies,
procedures, or contract requirements. - Communicates
responsibilities, authorities, and accountability to all direct
subordinates, so that they are clearly defined and understood. -
Motivates and encourages staff to perform their duties consistent
with policy and procedures. - Prepares and maintains a variety of
standard narrative, statistical, summary, and/or operational
records, reports and logs using appropriate grammar, to include
filing, alphabetizing, and labeling. Reviews reports and records
produced on the shifts. Properly processes all reports and
documents in a timely manner. - Maintains absolute security and
confidentiality of all medical records. - Audits medical files for
documentation of all provided services. - Maintains equipment and
supplies as required. Orders replacement items in a timely manner
and requisitions appropriate purchases via the purchase order
system. - Inspects the pharmacy for items that could be used as
contraband by inmates/residents. Securely stores supplies and
equipment or provides for their safe disposal. - Monitors and
evaluates physical safety requirements of both patients and staff
to provide a safe working environment. - Accepts on call status. -
Attends seminars, workshops, conferences, etc., as required. -
Attends scheduled staff meetings, promotes communication and the
proper flow of relevant information between administration, staff,
and inmates/residents. Assists in maintaining communications and
consistency of operation between shifts in the pharmacy. - Prepares
and disseminates safety and accident reports as required by policy.
Takes appropriate action in cases of serious and unusual incidents
and emergencies. - Facilitates, where applicable, NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO
accreditation of the medical program by providing the required
level of organizational efficiency and approved, appropriate
medical services. - Communicates effectively and coherently to
administration, staff, inmates/residents, visitors, and the general
public, particularly in situations requiring tact, diplomacy,
understanding, fairness, firmness, and good judgment. This includes
giving information, instructions and directions, mediating
disputes, and providing reliable testimony, in court and other
formal settings. - Reads, analyzes, comprehends, and interprets
technical procedures or governmental regulations, legal and
non-legal documents, including the processing of such documents as
medical instructions, commitment orders, summons, and other legal
writs. - Endeavors to comply with the requirements of applicable
regulations, laws, rules, procedures, policies, standards, and/or
contract. - Remains alert at all times and reacts quickly,
efficiently, and calmly in emergency and other high stress
situations. Qualifications: - Graduate from an accredited school of
pharmacy. - Unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state
of employment. - Ability to obtain DEA number as pharmacist if
needed. - PharmD. is preferred. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office
