Registered Nurse (RN) | Correctional Location: California City, CA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,728 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/2/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Correctional RN in California City, California, 93505! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: One year of professional nursing experience preferred License: Current licensure in the state of employment Certifications: Valid driver's license required Must-Have: Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing. Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. This includes executing orders from Licensed Independent Providers. Dispensing and administering medications are key responsibilities. The RN assists Licensed Independent Providers in examinations and treatment of patients. Nursing and supervisory techniques are applied in the care and treatment of inmates/residents. All technical and clinical procedures must be performed within the scope of education and licensure. The RN applies appropriate nursing skills in the area of treatment for inmates/residents. Attendance at sick calls with the physician is required. The RN prepares lists of inmates/residents to be examined and prepares examining rooms and equipment. Operating pill calls and dispensing medication along with required documentation is part of the role. The RN must call Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders or other emergencies. Examination and assessment of new inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries is essential. Referrals to emergency rooms or other healthcare facilities are required as necessary. Emergency procedures must be performed as needed while notifying Licensed Independent Providers for treatment orders. Coordination of professional medical services provided by contract personnel is required. Maintaining good working relationships with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers, and outside provider agencies is important. The RN must evaluate the provision of medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of those services. Confidentiality of all medical records must be maintained. Assistance to the Health Service Administrator with the review of medical files is necessary. Monitoring all potential catastrophic illnesses is an essential task. Pharmacy use will be audited for adherence to standards. Compliance with applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances, is required. Observation and recording of inmate/resident behavior is part of the job responsibilities. Inspections of the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband must be conducted. Health counseling and education on an individual or group basis are required. Assistance to the Health Service Administrator in maintaining various records and reports is expected. Reading, analyzing, comprehending, and interpreting medical and technical procedures is necessary. Evaluation and recommendation for physical safety requirements must be carried out. Preparation and dissemination of safety and accident reports as required by policies and procedures are required. Escorting or coordinating the movement of inmates/residents to and from areas for medical treatment is part of the role. Performing searches of people and objects capable of concealing contraband is a responsibility. Engagement in functions in confined areas, including working rotating shifts, will be necessary. Taking appropriate action to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situations is vital.
